Street space is a valuable but underutilized public asset - primarily used for parking. The pandemic inspired people to use streets creatively for outdoor restaurants, parklets, markets, and block parties, yet the application process remains complex still for cities, residents, and local businesses. However, the administrative burden of permit processing and application, as well as managing the various uses of curb spaces, overwhelms both municipalities and business owners.

We are creating a one-stop platform that connects municipalities and citizens to streamline the application of various curb spaces. 1) The platform is used to assist municipal governments in visualizing asset visibility, space utilization, demand, and behavioral patterns.2) It is also used to communicate permitted uses and any changes to citizens in a clear, timely, and equitable manner. 3) The platform is used to simplify the curb space reservation and permit application processes for citizens and local businesses.

Through our platform, citizens can access different types of applications, enter their desired location, and access our live maps. They could see which curb spaces are available for their own use cases. They can then select a street block, reserve certain dates, have price estimation, and input their proposed operational business hours. Finally they could fill in digital forms and upload files to be submitted automatically to different city departments. Citizens could also see and get notifications regarding their application updates.

On the back-end, the applications received will be automatically sorted, with pre-approved cases being recommended for early approval. For others, automation will route digital forms and documents to each relevant department for further review. We created a centralized collaboration platform for different city departments to easily communicate and manage the application.
